PlanetBeyond has studied and understood the GSM standards that define the workings of GSM mobile networks (the same principles apply to other cellular technologies) including what bearer service and tele-services are mandated, the supplementary services a subscriber should expect and how they behave when activated, the protocols that enable a call to be setup including Signaling System 7 and it’s MAP (Mobile Application Part) extension that enables a call to be routed to a mobile subscriber who may be in his home PLMN (H-PLMN) or roaming in visited PLMN (V-PLMN). We know how to add intelligence to a mobile network as specified by the CAMEL standard and we know what CAP (Camel Application Part) messages are exchanged between the gsm-SSF and the gsm-SCF when it is discovered (through Camel Subscription information stored in the HLR) that the mobile subscriber has subscribed to an operator specific service.
